About Amy

As a Lead Parent Support Specialist serving Pierce, King, Thurston, and Mason Counties, my role is to support, guide, and strengthen peer support services across the region. I work alongside peer specialists, providers, and community partners to ensure families and individuals receive compassionate, culturally responsive, and person- centered support.

My Areas of Support/Expertise

  • Peer Support Leadership & Supervision
  • Parent & Family Support
  • System Navigation & Resource Coordination
  • Program Development & Implementation
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building
  • Training & Capacity Building

Through these areas of support, I aim to strengthen peer services, empower parents, and improve outcomes for families across Pierce, King, Thurston/Mason regions.

My Approach / Philosophy to Supporting Parents:

My philosophy of supporting parents is grounded in the belief that families are the experts in their own lives and deserve to be heard, valued, and supported with compassion and respect. I believe that when parents feel empowered, connected, and supported, they are better positioned to navigate challenges, advocate for their children, and build sustainable paths forward for their families.

My Professional Experience / Background

I’m a Lead Parent Support Specialist with over 9 years of experience in behavioral
health, using my lived experience to support youth, families, and individuals navigating
mental health and substance use challenges. My work is grounded in connection, trust,
and empowering others in their recovery. In my previous role as a Lead Parent Support
Specialist, I centered peer support in my work while guiding and mentoring other peer staff. I focused on strengthening peer services, modeling effective engagement, and ensuring that lived experience remained at the core of the support we provided. As a Certified Peer Support Specialist Supervisor, I’m committed to advancing the peer role, supporting the growth of other peers, and helping build systems that truly value and
integrate lived experience.

What Parents Can Expect When Working with Them:

When working with me, parents can expect a supportive, respectful, and collaborative partnership grounded in lived experience, compassion, and trust. My approach centers on meeting families where they are, honoring their unique experiences, and walking alongside them as they navigate challenges and celebrate progress. Parents can expect a strength-based approach, a safe and non-judgmental space, support navigating systems, collaboration and partnership, empowerment and skill building, connection to resources, support, and understanding through lived experience.

Fun Facts About Me

I have an Identical twin sister, so if you see me around, it might not be me.
