Who We Are

A Common Voice’s team is comprised of trained parents who have the “lived experience” of raising a child or youth with significant emotional or behavioral, and mental health care needs. Mental health symptoms can impact a child’s ability to learn and experience academic success. Oftentimes behaviors are misunderstood and a child may need special supports to help him or her be successful in the school setting. Trained parents working in the role of Parent Support Providers engage parents in navigating the complex system of Special Education, specific to a student with mental health care needs. Parent Support Providers inform, educate, and model effective parent-school relationships for the shared goal: a child’s best interests.
